Project Description
When the founder of the organization published A Story of Suffering and Hope: Lessons from Latino Youth, the book became both a narrative work and a strategic asset for mission visibility.
Although I was not involved in the writing or production of the book itself, I supported the communications ecosystem surrounding its release and continued promotion. My role focused on ensuring the publication strengthened the organization’s public positioning, donor engagement, and earned media presence.
Key contributions included:
Press & Media Support: Drafted and refined press materials referencing the book within broader organizational messaging. Integrated book themes into external communications to reinforce credibility and impact narrative.
Website & Digital Integration: Managed web updates and promotional placement to ensure the book aligned with institutional storytelling and program positioning.
High-Level Outreach & Giveaways: Coordinated strategic book distribution for stakeholders, partners, and high-visibility audiences. Managed logistics and messaging to maximize reputational value.
Narrative Stewardship: Developed deep familiarity with the book’s themes and institutional history, enabling accurate representation in press releases, donor materials, and public-facing communications.
This work required careful distinction between:
The founder’s authorship and voice
Institutional messaging
Fundraising and stakeholder engagement goals
The publication functioned as both a mission narrative and a strategic communications tool — reinforcing the organization’s credibility while advancing donor trust and public recognition.
Exhibit 1 - Mixed Media
I helped maximize exposusure of our founder's autobiographical book by including it in our website, newsletter, and press kits. I also helped manage our donor database to help determine which donors met the threshhold for receiving the book as a gift.
